9/11/2012 Santa Cruz Court Delays

Published on 11 September 2012 by in Court Delays

We have been notified that all court research in Santa Cruz, California will be delayed until further notice due to clerk shortages (caused by budget cuts) both for basic index results and also for case data (for possible records found).  As you may know, all research in Santa Cruz must be performed by a court clerk.  This week, the court announced an additional day delay for results. Index results will now take 5 days or more.

As for case data (information when a record or possible record is found), it is taking 16 – 32 business days, on average, for the court to locate and make it available. All case data comes from the hard files (which are not readily available and have to be ordered). We wait at the mercy of the court for our files to be located and made available.
