The United States Department of Transportation regulates industries such as trucking, railways, and airlines. By law, employers that hire those in designated safety sensitive positions conduct a special type of employment verification. Employers must seek compliant verification of any specified level of an applicant’s employment history for the past two years. Information returned include some of all of the following information: Dates of Employment, Job Title, Salary, Reason for Leaving, Eligibility for Rehire and Overall Job Performance. The verification must also include the candidate’s prior driving history and previous drug and alcohol testing results.
All forms must be completed and signed in ink by each past employer who has up to 30 days to complete the verification.
